Planning Your Kedarnath Journey:

  • Best Time to Visit: The ideal time to visit Kedarnath is between May and June, when the weather is pleasant. However, it is important to keep in mind that this is also the peak season, so we expect crowds. The shoulder months of September and October offer a good balance between pleasant weather and fewer crowds.
  • How to Reach Kedarnath: Kedarnath itself is not directly accessible by road. You can reach Gaurikund by road, from where you can either trek (16 kms) or take a pony/horse ride to reach the temple. Alternatively, helicopter services are available from Guptkashi, Phata and Sersi.
  • Accommodation: Limited accommodation options in Kedarnath are due to its high altitude and remote location. There are government-run lodges and some private guest houses offering basic amenities. We highly recommend booking in advance, especially during peak season.
  • Things to Pack: Pack warm clothes (even in summer, the nights can be chilly), comfortable walking shoes for the trek, raincoat (especially during monsoon season), sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and basic toiletries. Don’t forget to carry prescribed medications and a first-aid kit.

A Few Do’s and Don’ts:

  • Dress modestly while visiting the temple.
  • Photography is prohibited in the temple.
  • Respect the local culture and traditions.
  • Dispose of waste responsibly to keep the surroundings clean.
  • Acclimatize properly
